Giving birth in BCO
The costs of childbirth at the Bevalcentrum Oost are equal to an outpatient birth. The rate is determined annually by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa). For 2024 the rate is set at €806,89. Your basic health insurance will reimburse €246,00. The remaining €560,89 is the statutory personal contribution.
The government has determined that, as with outpatient births, a statutory personal contribution also applies to births at a birthing centre. Depending on your insurance policy, you pay the personal contribution yourself or it is reimbursed by your insurance. You can (partly) insure the statutory personal contribution through an additional insurance. Please check your health insurance policy for this (the Dutch term for outpatient birth is ‘poliklinische bevalling’).
Contracted health insurance
We have contracts with several health insurance companies; if your insurance is one of them, you only pay the statutory personal contribution. Some insurance companies allow us to collect the personal contribution directly from them. A birth with nitrous oxide is also reimbursed.
The personal contribution will be cancelled if you are referred to a hospital during labour at the Bevalcentrum Oost. In that case you will go from the birthing centre to the medical delivery rooms at the OLVG Oost. If you are referred after the baby is born, the personal contribution will almost always apply. This depends on your insurance policy.
Insured with a non-contracted health insurance?
Is your health insurance a non-contracted one? Then you will receive our invoice personally. You are responsible for payment of this invoice. The rate depends on the use of nitrous oxide.
We advise you to inquire in advance with your insurance company what exactly will be reimbursed.
Not insured?
Non-insured clients pay the full amount themselves. In 2024 this is €806,89.
Parking costs
There is paid parking on the hospital grounds. When entering the car park, a ticket will be administered. Before leaving the car park you pay this ticket at the ticket machine at the entrance of the hospital.
